DIY Beaded Bookmark
How would you like to make the perfect bookmark for your traveler’s notebook planner? One of my favorite aspects of traveler’s notebooks is how multifunctional it is. It can be anything you need it to be. These beaded bookmarks look beautiful and will not take away from the functionality of your planner. In fact, it looks so nice, you will want to grab your planner even more!

When it comes to planners, there are so many different options for bookmarks and page markers. It can be very overwhelming. Some are big, others are small. How do you know what is right for your planning needs? I try to follow the “less is more” style. I find that large bookmarks are too much. They get in the way and I end up leaving them out of my planner altogether.
That is when I started thinking about how some journals are set up with page marker ribbons already apart of the notebook. I loved the thought of it – thin and nonobstructive. It got me starting to think about how I could use something like that in my own traveler’s notebook planner.
That is when I learned how to create these beautiful beaded bookmakers made with hemp string and beads. It is the perfect combination of simplicity and pizzaz. Their versatility allows you to make them match any style and notebook type! If you like things more colorful and sparkly, you can do it! If you prefer natural and minimalist, you could do that as well!
What you will need:

- Medium thickness string (I used this Hemp Cord that I purchased at Joann)
- Beads of any kind (make sure they have a hole big enough to fit the string through)
- Tacky glue
- Scissors
- Bead mat (optional)
Steps to make your beaded bookmark:
- First, you will measure your cord with your traveler’s notebook. Depending on the size of your TN, you will need a longer or shorter cord. Make sure to leave a good 3-4 inches coming out of the bottom of the notebook (depending on how many beads you want to put on.)

2. Tie a small overhand knot at the end of one side of the string.

3. Take a very small amount of tacky glue and put the glue all over the knot to hold it in place.
4. String the beads on all the way over to the knot. The knot will keep them from falling off.

5. Next, tie another small knot at the other end of the beads to hold them firmly in place.

6. Now, you are going to do the same thing on the other side of the string. Place the beads on first and then tie a knot at the end of the string so they will not fall off. (Don’t forget to put the tacky glue on the bottom knot so it won’t come undone!)
7. Finally, Tie another knot on the other end so the beads will not slide around on the string. Make sure to trim each of the ends close to the knot for a clean finish.
8. And that’s it! You are ready to use your new beaded bookmark!
